The city of Nagoya is the center of the region that gave birth to Japan’s greatest samurai warriors. Here you can also admire the wrestling of sumo men and discover the best view of the stars this side of the stratosphere.

The city is famous for being associated with the history of three of the most famous samurai. Also, the headquarters of Toyota Motors is located here.

Nagoya Station is not only the largest in the world, but also one of the busiest. More than 193,000 people pass through it every day. There are many large shops and excellent restaurants here – you can try the main city delicacies without even leaving the station area.

No matter what time you come to the city of Nagoya, there will definitely be some kind of big festival, performance or other spectacular event going on. These could be sumo wrestlers competing at the Nagoya Basho Championship, dancers competing at the Domatsuri Festival, anime fans in fancy costumes at the World Cosplay Summit. There is always something here that cannot be found in other regions of Japan.

The city of Nagoya has many museum exhibits that highlight the important role of Aichi Prefecture in both modern and ancient Japan. A 15-minute walk from the station is the world’s largest planetarium – part of the City Science Museum, where you can explore our galaxy and look beyond its borders. The Toyota Memorial Museum of Industry and Technology (Toyota Tecno Museum) will tell you about the most famous company in Aichi Prefecture. Get acquainted with samurai culture at the Tokugawa Art Museum.

Despite the fact that business life is constantly in full swing in the center of Nagoya, there are places where at the end of March you can put all your worries aside and admire the luxurious cherry blossoms. Join the locals for hanami at Tsuruma Park, Nagoya Castle Grounds, or Meijo Park.

There are large department stores at the station, many shops and boutiques in the Sakae area, and a 400-year-old shopping arcade in the Oso area. In Nagoya you can definitely buy everything you need.

How to get there?

Nagoya is located in the center of Japan, so it is easy to reach from anywhere in the country.
The Shinkansen from Tokyo will take 1 hour 45 minutes, from Kyoto – only 40 minutes.
